Leaders in Training -Yukon Hall


As we continue to offer one of the premiere LIT programs in Canada we need to be investing in staff, program and facilities on an ongoing basis. This past fall we began renovations on the Yukon Hall. This building has been used for years as the LIT classroom and worship center. These renovations began in response to needed fire code upgrades and became an opportunity to expand the available space by 20% and create an atmosphere more conducive to worship, teaching and community building.
Whether it’s the exhilaration of leading your group down a set of roaring rapids on the French River or the satisfaction of seeing your campers’ smiling faces after a laughter-filled game, the challenges and rewards of the LIT program are second to none. The first two weeks of the program are an intensive time of learning, during which campers are given many hands-on opportunities to develop skills in several areas and to be challenged in their faith. Then, in the second half of LIT, campers put their skills to the test – become a valuable member of one of the superb staff teams around Lake Clearwater, and help us run our renowned children’s camping programs.

Current Situation

The first phase included the removal of an interior wall, installation of a new ceiling for fire separation, two utility closets and lighting updates. This new open concept room features a unique century-old stone fireplace that has been “hidden” for years. We are now ready to move into the second phase of the building renovation.

This renovation also means that Pioneer’s year round program of church groups and Outdoor education will have full access to an expanded and updated facility.

Listed below in brief is an estimate of the needed investment that will encourage the LIT program to move ahead with the task of building Extraordinary Kingdom Leaders.
