Lisa Horn (nee Whitehead) started her camping adventure at Pioneer over 30 years ago. She has vibrant memories of Girls’ Camp where she enjoyed summers as a camper as well as in the roles of chalet leader and waterfront staff. It was as a camper at Pioneer that Lisa made a conscious decision to follow God and she has been keenly aware of His guidance, pruning and faithfulness as they have journeyed together over the years. Following her summers on the shores of Lake Clearwater, Lisa pursued studies in nursing and graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Nursing Science Degree and from Seneca College with a Certificate in International Health. Lisa’s husband, Campbell, was also greatly influenced by his years in Christian camping, both at Camp IAWAH and Pioneer. Following their marriage, Lisa and Campbell joined God in the work he was doing in Costa Rica. They formed part of the leadership team which has established and grown - with God’s direction, many volunteers and much prayer - a vibrant Christian camping ministry at La Cumbre Christian Adventure Camp. Calvin and Ruth share their parents’ love for camping and the family enjoys life and ministry together at Girls’ Camp. Lisa finds herself energized by the challenges and joys of serving at Pioneer Camp. It is her hope and prayer that, together with a committed team of gifted women and men, she might have the opportunity to aid and witness seeds planted, watered and blossoming in the lives of the young people God brings to Pioneer.
